SUMMARY
How can organizations conduct internal audits that fulfill the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and experience value?

Companies contend with striving to maintain an effective quality management system in the face of dwindling and over-taxed resource. Conducting audits that provide value for management can be time intensive. However, audits conducted merely to ensure conformance to ISO 9001 or some other standard produce results of questionable worth.

By utilizing the guidance in ISO 9001 (or other sector-specific standards) auditors can conduct objective assessments of the organization that will provide meaningful information about its overall status. This, in turn, should result in an improved decision making process that will be a substantial benefit to the organization and enhance its ability to serve its customers.

The best way to achieve this goal is through clustering multiple linked processes that reflect the same interrelations that are required for a well-implemented quality management system.

This presentation will provide tips for internal auditing of ISO 9001:2008 requirements along with examples of:
  • How to cluster interrelated processes
  • Documents to be reviewed
  • Evidence that may be used to verify conformance
  • Trails to follow to ensure that support processes are well integrated
  • Methods to assess if processes are effectively implemented
